As we look ahead in 2020 there are changes proposed in both local and national planning. The new government are proposing to publish a Planning White Paper in the next few months to “make the planning process clearer, more accessible and more certain for all users, including homeowners and small businesses.” The Environment Bill is also expected to be reintroduced which will require developers to secure biodiversity net gain in all new schemes.
A new national model design code is expected to be published following the National Design Guide published during 2019.
Central Bedfordshire and Welwyn and Hatfield Local Plan Examinations will continue to move ahead during 2020 and the Bedford Borough Local Plan and Aylesbury Vale Local Plans are expected to be adopted early in 2020.
